Once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey. -Pat Conroy
Why do I like travel?
Travel is that breath of fresh air that recharges and rejuvenates me. It also allows me time away from the hectic day-to-day activities of life. I get to refocus on important aspects of my life and come back a newer and improved version of myself.
Do you find yourself struggling to decide where to go next? or catch yourself already planning for another vacation as one ends? I would like to return to many of the destinations that I have really enjoyed, to soak in the environment and the learn more about it. I tell myself, I have yet to visit so much of the world! Travel is a passion for me.
What type of travel do I do?
What do you like most about travelling? Do the beautiful scenery and nature captivate you? Or does travel with an intellectual purpose enthrall you? Interesting enough I enjoy both and these can often be seamlessly combined.
Our trip to Cabo, Mexico was one of those trips. This unique eco-tour with camel riding safari atop a friendly camel through the Cabo desert provided the most exhilarating experience, one would think of getting only when in Dubai. The tour also included meet and greet with the camel handlers, understanding the animals’ physical abilities to adapt to such scorching temperatures and finally a sweet ‘kissing camel’ photo opportunity.
In addition, I find cruising an excellent combination of nature inspired relaxation and nirvana of intellectual pursuits. I am the most content on a cruise, sipping tea watching the world go by. Cruising allows me to effortlessly switch between history immersed venues to world class attractions such as museums and art galleries.
The more I travel, the keener I become to travel more. Visiting renowned museums to where Picasso created masterpieces – from Southern Spain to my home country Fiji Islands. From being in the original location of the world war II massacre – Hiroshima or in the David’s Square in Florence City. The best part is that I get to experience all these with my best friend, my travel companion who is also my husband.
I like to keep up with my readings on travel, be it on UNESCO heritage world sites or the Taj Mahal or dynamic Antarctica expeditions to luxurious river cruises. I find that keeping up with travel readings opens a world of opportunities for travel.
Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind. -Seneca
My philosophy on travel is inspired by travel itself coupled with History, arts and culture.
