A Long Time Coming
Sooner or later, the world will have its first full-scale resort under water. There’ve been a lot of promises made (mainly out of Fiji and Dubai), but there’s no telling when it will happen. I’m not holding my breath (excuse the pun).
For now, we have the Manta Resort on Pemba Island, Zanzibar. While technically not a full “underwater hotel”, it’s the closest thing to it. Most of their suites sit firmly on the beach but their shining star sits half-submerged in the Indian Ocean.

The Perfect Way to End Your Safari.
Zanzibar, known as the “Spice Island”, is part of Tanzania and was once the center of the slave trade. The crystal clear water, idyllic white beaches, world-renowned dive sites, and historic Stone Town make it the perfect spot to relax after your safari in East Africa.
Pemba Island is part of the Zanzibar archipelago and is easily accessed by water or air from the mainland and from the island of Zanzibar.
Unfortunately, the underwater room wasn’t open when I was last in Zanzibar. But you better believe I’ll be sleeping with the fishes next time I’m there.
What does it cost for a night in the underwater suite?
Of course, the biggest question on your mind is “How much does a trip like this cost?” Maybe you’re just curious or maybe you want to take the trip yourself! Either way, click on the link below to find out.
